Rocco Needs Your Help Rocco
Prestia underwent major surgery on July 23, 2002, receiving a liver transplant.
The medical bills far exceed his insurance coverage.
Rocco needs more than $300,000 to pay his bills.
Please make a donation now!
The medical bills are HUGE. In-home nursing care alone is over $800 per week, and the pill Rocco takes daily to keep his body from rejecting the liver costs over $36,000 annually. This does not count the hospital and doctors' bills. Rocco has restricted insurance coverage due to pre-existing conditions. So Tower of Power fans (Volunteers) launched this campaign on July 4 to help Rocco with his expenses. We will use your donation to pay Roccos medical bills and his personal expenses (rent, utilities, etc.). We simply want to get him back on his feet financially as well as physically. This includes post-operative care, in-home nursing care, anti-rejection medication, etc. He continues to receive his salary from the band. Volunteers donate their time and expenses--there are no expenses for office supplies or postage (these are being donated), and only minimal overhead expenses for shipping expenses and PayPal donations (see fees below). Overhead expenses for any tax liability or legal fees that may result cannot yet be estimated. Rocco Prestia is the legendary bass guitarist for the renowned soul and funk band from Oakland, CATower of Power. At just 51, he is the originator of the Fingerstyle Funk method of bass playing and is among the greatest bassists in the history of music. He has influenced an entire generation of aspiring bass players. Read more about Rocco. Make A Donation Now! If you have never used PayPal, click here to open a PayPal account. 1. Please make a generous donation. Click on the PayPal button
to the right of this text. EVERY DOLLAR HELPS,
whether $10 or $10,000.
2. Please tell as many people as you can about this situation and give them the Web address of this Web site: http://www.francisroccoprestia.com.
4. Can you make a substantial donation (five or six figures)? If you have the means, will you seriously consider making a contribution of this size? Perhaps you could issue a matching challenge grant to other donors. Corporate sponsors needed! 5. Are you a professional musician? Could you put together a benefit for Rocco? Or do you have an old musical instrument that you would autograph and donate to the cause? See Warning at the top of the Special Events page. 6. If you are a musician in a band of your own, will you donate the income from your next gig (or two) to Rocco's medical fund? Several offers of this kind have already been made.
8. Is there something you can auction on eBay and then donate the proceeds to Rocco's medical fund? Sellers: Put the words Rocco Prestia in your item title, and use the HTML code in Item #10 below to add the Web graphic to your eBay item. Bidders: Type Rocco Prestia in the eBay search box. 9. If you are active on another music-related Message Board, will you spread the word on that Message Board?

13. Download the printable business cards from this Web site at: http://www.francisroccoprestia.com/cards.doc. This is a Microsoft Word template configured for Avery 5371 business cards. You can buy a box of 250 Avery 5371 cards (25 sheets of 10 each) at Office Depot for around $20. Then just load the sheets into your printer and print the template to your printer. The sheets are perforated. It only takes about 30-45 minutes to make a box of 250 cards that you can hand out at the next Tower of Power show you attend (or any other music concert, for that matter). Or simply print this template to plain paper and cut the paper into 10 handouts--fancy is not as important as functional. 14. Contact your local media outlets (newspapers, magazines, radio stations, etc.) and ask them to do a story on this fund-raising campaign. Or simply print out the downloadable press release and take it to your local newspaper editor. 15. Here's an easy-to-remember toll-free telephone number that radio stations can give to their listeners to direct them to this Web page: 888-51-ROCCO, or 888-517-6226. Much easier than trying to explain francisroccoprestia.com over the air! This toll-free line is operational right now. 16. Language Translations.
17. If you want to ask a question before making a donation, contact the Regional Coordinator nearest you or write directly to the Medical Fund Trustee. |
